8- Growing in the love of the Father

Updated: Nov 14, 2021

God has an amazing plan for our lives and wants us to grow in our knowledge of and intimacy with Him. Like any relationship, we need to set a side focused, purposeful time to cultivate intimacy and the knowledge of the nature of our Father. We get to hang out with and grow deeper in love with the creator of the universe!

Devotional lifestyle; pursuing Jesus.

  • John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

  • Luke 9:23-24 Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

  • 1Peter 1:15-16 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

Trouble is coming; it is not if, but when!

  • 2Timothy 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

  • Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Love is the filter for all we do

  • 1Corinthians 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Serving our families, the church, our community, and the world

We do not need to guess how we are to live our lives out in relation to our families, the church, our community, or the rest of the world. Jesus gave us this example of love and humility and then told us to do the same. When we see dirty feet (broken lifestyle) we are not to gossip, condemn or judge that person. We are to love them by washing their feet by praying for, providing for, comforting, encouraging them, instructing them and the like. True love, maturity, clarity, God’s heart for His children and a lost world is realized as we are serving others.

  • John 13:12-17 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? "You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 "Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 "If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
